Prayer Ministries

Whether individually or in community, there are many different ways to participate in prayer at St. John’s Church. For further information about the ministries listed below, please contact Sandra Ahn at sjahn_vienna@yahoo.com.

Pastoral Care Committee
A Pastoral Team has been formed to better organize our prayer life, our communication and our support for those facing challenging times. This new initiative once again reinforces the basic truth that the ministry belongs to the people.

Daily Retreat Guide
Printed copies are available in the Narthex that provide scripture readings, prayers and reflections for the “hours of the day.” In addition to this individual practice you would be joining members of our diocesan community in prayer. In the introduction Bishop Andrus states, “As we pray, serve and dream together, we become a community dreaming with God – a cohesive communion.” Through the eight ancient Benedictine hours, each hour focuses on one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). Please take one for yourself and one to share with others in need.

Prayer Partners
Prayer Partners is an informal group that regularly prays for those with special needs or requests.  We may share thanksgivings and/or offer petitions.  All information is strictly confidential.  If you have a prayer need or would like to be a part of Prayer Partners, please contact Sandra Ahn at 510-290-2850 or by email at sjahn_vienna@yahoo.com.  Prayer requests are shared by email or phone.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  1 Thess 5:16-18

Prayer Request Cards
These cards are in the church pews and in the narthex. You are encouraged to take one to share with others or to keep with you. When a concern arises, you may fill out the card and drop it in Sandra Ahn’s mailbox or mail it to the church office. Requests are added to our prayer list each week and will remain on the prayer list for four weeks, unless renewed for a longer period.
